Mental health challenges are often under-identified among immigrant populations due to stigma and cultural barriers, which can make individuals reluctant to seek help. Many also face a lack of awareness about available resources, making it important to develop programs that support mental well-being and community connection.
Funded by Action Dignity’s Community Action Plan for Racialized Communities, the Breaking the Barriers (BB) initiative is an educational and interactive program aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of families, including seniors, adults, and youth, through intergenerational engagement.
The initiative promotes mental wellness, social connectivity, and quality of life by fostering meaningful interactions between generations and mental health professionals, helping to build supportive networks that reduce isolation and strengthen community ties.
