The Centre for Research, Education, and Social Services (CRESS Centre) is a not-for-profit organisation that runs programs and services to support needy Calgarians, following an intersectionality approach. Our projects are funded by different levels of government and non-profit organizations in Calgary.
In any given year, the CRESS Centre supports over 1,000 Calgarians. We endeavor to enrich and improve every life we touch. To achieve our goal, we are hiring a Seasonal Project Officer to join our team for up to eight weeks beginning 16th May 2025.
Position: Project Officer (Seasonal)
Start Date: Monday, May 16th, 2025 (tentative)
Wage: $16.00 to 17.00/hour, including all benefits
Status: Part-time with flexible hours on weekdays, Contract
This temporary 8–12-week contract position, funded by Canada Summer Jobs 2025.
Eligible applicants must
• Be between 15 and 25 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
• Have a valid SIN number.
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
Project Officer (Seasonal):
The CRESS Centre is seeking a Seasonal Project Officer to support our project activities in the summer season. The CRESS Centre hosts dozens of activities such as Seniors Week Celebration Event, Seniors meet and greet sessions, conversation cafes, multicultural tours and interaction sessions, community gardening, awareness and educational sessions, community events, etc., during this time, which require detailed planning, promotion, coordination, and on-site support. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role will provide activity-level support and general administrative assistance to the CRESS Centre team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, are highly organized and detail-oriented, and can juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, we would love to hear from you! Responsibilities:
Key roles and responsibilities in the position include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare promotional materials (poster, audio/video aids, Google form, social media content) for all projects and activities
• Update the CRESS Centre website
• Procure required project supplies from the market, including snacks, wherever needed
• Strengthen and maintain working relationships with the collaborative partners, and attend the project/community activities hosted by our collaborative partners
• Actively engage in social mobilization and build rapport with the participants
• Collect feedback from the participants, administer surveys, and record audio/video of the participants
• Take pictures and videos while project activities are being hosted
• Participate in community activities and provide administrative support
• Provide technical assistance in finalizing the Annual Report of the CRESS Centre
• Provide technical support to the collaborative partners
• Enter data in the spreadsheet
• Participate in community gardening and social mobilization activities in the Land of Dreams
• Perform any other administrative duties for the CRESS Centre as required
Requirements:
• High school diploma
• Proficient in computer applications, e.g., Excel, Word, Canva, Video editing tools, Google Suites, etc.
• A valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle for project work are required.
• Demonstrated ability for excellent customer service and building relationships.
• Strong volunteerism aptitude; priority will be given to someone who has worked as a volunteer with the CRESS Centre and/or other non-profit organizations.
• Excellent communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent time management and organization skills
• Meticulous and skilled at multitasking
• Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required.
• Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
